More details

  • Whether you come in person to Cherrywood Treehouse Art Studio or opt for a virtual experience, my philosophy in teaching kids is the same. Exposing kids to different mediums of art, becoming comfortable with their style, enjoying the journey and tapping into their creativity are my main goals. My lessons are instructional, with room for creative freedom.

  • If you choose to opt for a virtual experience, I can give you supplies list OR you can purchase an art kit. Either way, as a parent you will get a list of what you need beforehand with instructions. I welcome you to join your kiddo in the experience, or if you want a more hands off approach that is fine with me.

  • For customers in the Greater Austin area, we will have an in person art show at the Cherrywood Treehouse every two months for kids and families to connect, and for the young artists to show off their work! This is a huge part of the program and huge in confidence building for kids.

  • Sessions last 60-75 minutes. We start out our time together with a daily doodle - a doodle with a prompt to get our creative juices flowing. We then get into the bulk of our lesson. On Zoom, we’ll go over the supplies, instructions, and begin!

  • We offer private 1:1 sessions as well as group sessions. If you have friends in your homeschool community that would like to join in together, even better! We can plan a few sessions, or can schedule up to 3 months of classes in advance. Groups of 10 are less are perfect, so we can get to know each other and each kid has a chance to share their work.

  • Only enrolled families receive the private Zoom link for Cherrywood Treehouse sessions. Meetings are password-protected, locked once class begins, and never shared publicly. Classes are not recorded unless pre-approved, and a Cherrywood instructor is always present. Students are welcome to keep their cameras on for a more interactive experience but may stay off if preferred.

core values at the studio

  • Magic happens when you are authentically you, and not trying to be someone else. Even in the creation process, we'll focus on this!

  • Being kind to one another is a non negotiable for everyone in class. We strive to uplift and encourage one another at the studio.

  • We'll always aim to make amazing things. Enjoying the journey of new mediums, and the different stages of the creation process is a huge part of enjoying the journey (kind of like life!)

  • In class we'll tap into our creative side, listen to music, and enjoy the moment. Having fun is key at the studio!

Hi there!

My name is Rachel! I’m so glad you are here. Art has a magical way of bringing people together - and that is why I love it so much. Not only do art classes bring new people into your life, it generates meaningful moments, increases confidence, decreases stress, and teaches you enjoy the moment and journey instead of fixating on the destination. It is a path to tap into the creativity that lives inside you.

My goal is to provide a safe and creative environment where imagination can take flight. I can’t wait to create with you and your family!
